Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

If you have read this book you know what happens at the end and, it's sad I cried a little. But if you haven't read the book and have no desire to see this movie this post may not be for you. However if you do want to see this movie... This post may still not be for you (unless of course you have read the book then you already know what happens and there is no spoiling any of it.)

It's been a while since I've read HBP but I don't remember there being so much teenage hormones flying around, The Wealsey twins Fred and George have opened up their own gag shop with all of the things you would want to play tricks on your friends and enemies alike. Draco Malfoy has some serious personal demons that he has to face and deal with. Some how (and this part always pisses off my husband) Harry doesn't whip out the big "Bad Ass" magic, he casts some small stuff (that everyone else is casting too) but you would think being the star and "the chosen one" he would have some seriously bad ass spells and they are no where to be found.

There aren't that many action sequences one where Bellatrix (Bonham Carter) burns down the Weasley house and there is a small "battle" of sorts. Snape kills Dumbledor (Oh come on you knew it was coming) he only kills him after Malfoy can't do it (there are those personal demons I was talking about.) Harry befriends the new (ish) teacher at Hogwarts why do I say ish? well he's teached there before actually he taught Tom Riddle (Voldermort) and Harry has been charged with getting a memory from him to uncover some secrets that are of value to Dumbledor. Hermione openly falls in love with Ron (really? you're surprised?) Of course Ron had a girlfriend and it rips Hermione apart every time she sees them together. And Harry and Ginny couple up (which correct me if I'm wrong but I don't remember them all paring up in this book.)

I wish I had more to say about this movie but I don't. It was good, don't get me wrong but, it doesn't live up to the amount of hype they have gotten.

Good Mosh Pitting Everyone!!

They did hook up in the book. They separated at the end after the funeral. And, yup, the book had much teenage angst. Aren't you glad we don't have to do that anymore?

I sort of agree, but sort of don't. I think I should have re-read the book before watching the movie--according to my fuzzy recollections, it seemed to follow the book just as well as the previous five movies. And the scene where they're getting Voldemort's horcrux (sp?) in the middle of the cave/lake place . . . that was EXACTLY how I pictured it.

The only scene that didn't jive with my recollections was the one where Snape killed Dumbledore--in my memory from the book (which, granted, could be mistaken) the scene played out very differently. I don't remember the whole Bellatrix-gang there at all, but then after he killed him, didn't Snape jump out the window (which was on the first floor, of course)? I have a picture in my head of Snape crouching in the windowsill.

This movie sure seemed really LONG; it took a long time to get going. But I remember this was the point in the books that I was getting Harry Pottered out, and started skimming. Am I the only one that tried reading them too fast?

Harry and Ginny did kiss and pretty much pair up in the book.

People seem to hate the movie, I love it. I think it's one of the best out of all 6. No Harry Potter movies seem to really be similar with the books. But minus the final battle between the death eaters and professors, Harry and Snape, also Dumbledore stupefied him so he couldnt help not letting Dumbledore be killed, I think the movie is pretty good.

they got together in the book.

One of the things I do like is that Harry kind of sucks at magic. I mean, he can do a Patronus, but there are very few other spells or subjects he actually excels at; it's one of the things I do like about the books. :)
