My weekend away

We decided to go to Windsor this weekend. I don't mean Friday when we got home from work we said hey let's go to Windsor this trip has been planned for a few weeks. We had it all planned the boys mom had gotten free tickets to go and see Tony Orlando (let me just say now no we did not go gag) however his sisters and his mom went to the show they got to meet him before the show and everything. I don't know I mean I get it Tony Orlando was a big deal in his day but I'm not so much a fan I only know maybe two of his songs and to be completely honest tie a yellow ribbon not really my idea of music. We got our own room this time which was nice we didn't have to worry about.................... well you know. We have finally been going there enough and we have a card to play with so we get offers for free rooms and free food and that makes it that much easier. We gambled slots, although I don't know how people sit there for hours I find slots boring. Roulette, Dave loves roulette he could sit there for hours if we had that much $ and we should have continued to sit at the one wheel we were hitting everything. Of course craps I love craps it's interactive and fun and there's always something going on. It's a little complicated but as long as you know the basics you are good as gold, we of course didn't win (that's why I am writing you from my desk at work) but hey we go with a certin amount and either we win or we lose, a lot of the time Dave likes to go to the roulette table before we leave put everything we have left on either red or black and if we win we win and if we lose, we lose. I'm not so much a fan of that tradition but that's what he does so whatever I'm over it. It was a good fun weekend good food, nice weather, and now we're back to reality.

Don't worry I'm working on my women's club story I'm still trying to come up with a proper title but I have gotten to work on the characters. Mind you I have changed their names because if one of them were to figure out how to enter the blog-o-sphere and they spotted this I would be in so deep.

There's The Talker- she doesn't stop talking about crap no one actually cares and she always has to be the center of attention, the second the attention is directed towards someone else she needs to create a diversion and get it all back on her, that's the only way she is happy. I haven't come up with a proper name for her yet.

The Young one- again no name yet but she's sort of the odd one out all of the other women love her for her spunk and she's fun and easy to get along with. There's also her mother another one of those characters that you just can't help but like she like's to laugh and have a good time, I think that deep down she's really happy that she's got her daughter to join it's a real bonding thing for them.

Maude- Yes I finally came up with a name and please don't be offended of your name is Maude it really is a good name but when I see her that's just what I think of. She's oh I don't know what did I say in the last post 70? soft spoken but still can have fun with the rest of the girls, has no idea what year it is apprant by her gaudy costume jewlery and bright blue eyeshadow did I mention that one eyelid is done up darker then the other. I don't think she even realizes it.

I think that's all that I have come up with so far.

Here are some pictures for you to enjoy before I go. views out our window in Windsor and the Lobby.

Womens Clubs

So, I know it's been awhile I never get online anymore unless I'm at work and lets face it writing blogs at work (like I am now) not a good idea on a regular basis. But I'm getting off track, My mom had a dinner at her house for the women's club that she is in, and as to not offend anyone I'm not saying names or anything. It was awfully interesting I have been to this dinner once before, last year only at the end they put me on the spot and invited me to "join the group". HA! Seriously there is one other person in that club that is I believe younger then me, yes I said YOUNGER. the rest of them seem to be 45 and up. I get it I'm getting older but seriously, I thought I was going to go crazy, the woman who is in charge of this club is a talker and it's usually crap that no one cares about (one of the other major reasons that I don't think I could join the club I couldn't stand to listen to that woman blab on for hours about crap.) So why did I go to this dinner you ask? Especially since I am doing nothing but complaining about it, well it was at my moms house so that helps and there are always two things that you can count on when at a party at her house. The atmosphere is relaxed and the food is rockin'. I'm comfortable there (I should be it's my moms house.) And of course the weather was perfect the bugs minimal and again did I mention the food? YUM!! They also do an auction that all of the money goes to the club it's white elephant they aren't bad gifts but you can't know what you are bidding on everything is wrapped. Most of the women were simply betting on the "pretty bag" they didn't care what was in it. There are several interesting characters, of course a mother daughter team (I think there are two of those actually.) There is this one woman I she must be about 70 she wears bright blue eyeshadow one eye is always darker then the other, I swear I could write a book with all of these people in it, and it would be hilarious, I can't guarantee that it would sell because well lets face it I'm not the most clever writer ever but it would be hilarious, maybe I will start something. Possibly in the next post, it might be called women's clubs and their crazy antics? I haven't decided yet.

Until then, hopefully the next post will be more entertaining and full of colorful characters.

BOBA TEA!!!

I found it, it took me a while but I found it. There is a place that is near-ish my work that sells it. it's easier if I am going out the Chipotle to get lunch to go get it. It's awfully hard to rationalize I'm going 10 minutes off campus for tea? yeah my boss would get really sick of that really fast. We on the west side are not really diverse enough to have it in our area. One of my co-workers told me that they sell it at all of the Siam Cafes but again we don't have those on my side of town. I found it at Phionex Cafe, if you live in Lakewood sorry they don't have it at that location (that location is individually owned). The one on Coventry has it and as far as I know the one on E9th has it as well. I had the Thai flavored, it's like a spiced tea it's alot like Chai, I've got to say I'm not sure how I feel about the Tapocia pearls I'm addicted that's for sure, but the tapocia pearls are sort of hit or miss for me. It probably didn't help that I had a burrito bol and the boba tea. note to self boba tea for lunch is all I need. Food who needs food?
If you are no in the know already here is a link for boba tea and what it is. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bubble_tea
I'm sad that there isn't some place closer to my home where I can find it.

Food, Booze and Good Friends Oh yeah and Ivan

So last night we had a going away party for a girl I used to work with at Starbucks. Her name is Currie (like the spice only with an I) She is moving we're sad that she's going but I know that there will be many good opertunities for her in her new home. Also she's not acutally leaving Starbucks she's just transfering stores. She said that she was glad that she would still be with the company and she's going to be a barista instead of a shift which I think will be good, not so much stress. But I'm getting ahead of myself. We went to Buca YUM!! It was fantastic we go a room for just our group and most of the store showed up including one loyal customer his name is Ivan. Ivan (as far as I know) has been coming in for years. He was coming in for the entire three years I was there (and that's been almost a year and a half out already.) So we met in the bar and most people (not including me) started drinking and chatting and talking about Currie's new store and the move and how we all would really miss her. More people arrived and we went to "the room" and ordered salads and pizza (we were starving and couldn't wait for everyone) more people came in slowly but surly and we all had a good time. Well one of the girls went out and got cheesecake from somewhere and a cake from Giant Eagle that says "Good Luck Currie" we were stuffed (but not too stuffed for cheesecake you can never be too stuffed for cheesecake, or chocolate) the regular cake barely got touched and we started talking about how funny it would be if they were to sell the cake in the pastry case this morning at starbucks Ivan thought that would be a great idea (along with cold pizza slices but we'll talk about that later.) So after Ivan left Currie says hey slice me off a peice of that cake and give me the ribbons and plastic ballon decorations that were on it. By the way I should tell you the boss was right there, she looks right at him and asks if she can put it in the pastry case with Ivans name on it and a price of 30 dollars (which by the way Ivan said he would pay for it) The boss said sure but I'm on vacation so I know nothing if our district comes in and sees that. The idea was funny

But actually seeing it in the pastry case this morning was even funnier. Sorry it's a bit blurry I couldn't stop laughing. The sign attached say's Ivan's Cake $30.00.

I'd be interested to see if Currie is 30 dollars richer.

Edit:

I just sent Currie a text and asked if she was thirty dollars richer and she isn't. She just gave it to him. Boo.

Look at what I did this weekend!

Look at what I did this weekend! that's Reno I kno w nice hair do right? he wouldn't let us fix it because every time we tried he thought we were going after his ears and he hates his ears touched. So there the forelock stayed. messy and crazy looking. Hopefully by next week we'll have real pictures of me actually riding and not just standing there looking dumbfounded. this picture was taken with a camer phone and therefore it wasn't going to work trying to take pictures while I was moving.
and these two lovlies (you see how his forelock is perfect here, figures) the one is the front is Reno (same horse I am on in the picture above) and the one in the back is Rudy. Rudy is a permant border he's a clydesdale and he's a big teddy bear. Reno is going to one of the young girls that comes to the barn weekly so at the end of this week he's going to be going to his new home. the good part is that his new home is literally just down the street. The sad part is that after he belongs to her the only riding anyone is going to be able to do on him is "pony rides". Which means oh sure you want to ride my horse I'm going to lead you around the arena on a lead line right next to you because obviously you are incompetent. Pisses me off, I mean OK he's going to be hers soon and she can do what she wants but I've riden him by myself without anyone holding my hand, GRRRRRRRRR. so Saturday will be the end of my fun with him but it was fun while it lasted. if I had the money to keep him at the barn I would have snatched him up so fast but that is not a luxury that I can afford right now so, for now I go out I clean I ride and I take what I can get. Hope everyones weekend was just as good as mine!

The View

these are some of the views from our new office space. this is back by the education group. I don't have any windows. *sad*

The pictures are not that great and right now we are looking at a lot of construction. But the skyline view from here is better then the one from the old office. where we ended up looking at a parking garage most of the time.

enjoy!
