Give me an R-O-C-K-Y!!!

So this past weekend being Halloween we were good on Friday and handed out candy to all of the little goblins and ghosts and then went to a bon-fire down the street for a few hours. I don't think I really stopped on Saturday at all got up, went to the barn, cleaned stalls, rode for about 45 Min's, went home, showered, went straight to dance rehearsal for Scrooge, went home, showered (again) left again for dinner and Rocky Horror Picture show with my Sister, Jen and Char. It was wild and so fun live vs. movie I've got to say I prefer live. I am a little bias as I knew a few people in the cast so that made it all the more fun and I won a pair of crazy feathered eye lashed in the auction that they had at intermission. Aren't the fabulous?? I don't know where I would wear them maybe next year I'll do Rocky.

Vocal Warm-ups

So, I had rehearsal last night (of course) and I won't bore you with the details cause lets face it rehearsals are boring unless you are there. Learned a new vocal warm up which amused me greatly, it's all one note and then up a half step (and if you have done vocals ever you know the drill)
"round and round the ragged rock the raunchy rascal ran"
Only you're supposed to try doing it with an accent (sounding like Dracula or something to that effect) I just thought that it was amusing and probably no-one else finds it amusing but I don't care cause this is my blog and................... Yeah so there.

Weekend Bliss

Playing Hookie is fun!! It's unfortunate that we had to come back to work to quickly. We spent the majority of the weekend either running around Amish country or in our double Jacuzzi tub in our room, I forgot how good baths feel. I snapped a few pictures around the place we were staying I had to limit the pictures there isn't much of a signal out there. Signal at the flea market yes absolutely but at the inn both of our phones died on the first night there. Luckily I had my car charger so I charged mine up on our way into town. So below is what I snapped and captions. for your viewing pleasure YEOWZA!!

This was the porch that was directly outside of our window. Also where we were supposed to eat our anniversary dinner but it was way too cold out by then so we had it delivered to our room that was equally as nice.

The water fall that was outside our window, admittedly man made but it was still a nice touch.

This is the covered wagon that you saw when you drove up to the inn I got a shot of the back of it on the front is a sign that says welcome to yeowza resorts. I like this angle better.

This is the horse that I wanted to horse nap and take home and brush all of the burs out of his forelock. he lives down the street from where we were staying. We saw him every morning he was sweet, on our way out on our last day there I got out of the car and snapped this picture of him and he let me pet him.

So that was my weekend in a nutshell. it was nice, secluded, quiet, and oddly enough still not nearly long enough, next year we're taking a whole week. even if we don't go somewhere for a whole week we could be gone for 3 days or something and then spend the rest of the time relaxing at home. I would be so fine with that.

October 24, 2003

I know it's tomorrow but I probably won't be around tomorrow to post anything so it's getting posted today. So Dave and I are playing hooky from work, rehersal, and life in general all weekend. OK not really playing hooky they know we're going to be gone, Lester would have my head if he didn't. So what happened on October 24, 2003 Oh come on I know you all don't know me that well but how about a wedding? Mainly Dave's and my wedding. It was (suprise) a Friday, and the weather was great and our mouths hurt by the end of the day from smiling. I have a great picture of the two of us that I should probably get and post at the end of this post. We're at our reception, (if you're from the Cleveland area it was at Wagner's) and it was probably 11:00 which normally isn't all that late unless you're running around like a bat out of hell all day then it's freaking late as crap. The halls in Wagner's have couches stratigacally placed every 20 feet or so against the wall and Dave and I are on one of these couches slouching just looking at the ceiling we were definitely ready for sleep and trust me that's all that happened that night for anyone who tells you other wise they're either lying or they had large amounts of coffee that day to keep them going. But seriously who has time to stop and drink a cup of coffee on their wedding day? I didn't! So we're going to a little resort in Dundee Ohio called Yeowza, (a prize to anyone who can tell me what the phrase Yeowza, Yeowza, Yeowza!! is from cause I've been racking my brain to remember.) Here's the website, www.yeowzaresorts.com you should check it out it looks small and cute and log cabin-e and secluded and there are jacuzie tubs in all of the rooms.

Simple Shortbread cookie recipe

So this is a really simple shortbread cookie recipe that I picked up and have been making a lot lately. My husband really likes shortbread and I needed to make sure I was sending the guys home with goodies for crawling around on my roof a few weeks ago.

4 c. all purpouse flour
1/2 t. baking powder
3/4 t. salt
1 lb. butter (room tempature)
1 c. powdered sugar
1/2 t. vanilla extract
1 vanilla bean (optional)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees sift the flour baking powder and salt into a medium bowl and set aside.

In a mixing bowl beat the butter until light and fluffy. Add the powdered sugar and beat again scrapind down the sides of the mixing bowl as you are mixing. Beat in the vanilla extract. If you have a vanilla bean slit it open aling its entire length, scrape out the vanilla bean paste from the interior of the bean, and add this to the mixer as well. Add the flour mixture in two additions. Stir until everything comes together into a thick dough.

Turn the dough out onto a countertop and divede into two pieces, ths there quite a bit of dough so cutting it into two pieces just makes it easier to roll on later on. Press each peice of dough out intoa flat patty an inch thick. wrap each piece in plastic and chill completely in the refrigerator - about thirty minutes.

When the dough is chilled, use a rolling pin to roll the dough out 1/4 -1/2 inch thick. Cut the dough into desired shapes using cookie cutters or a knife and place on a parchment (or silpat) lined baking sheet. Bake for 7-10 minutes or until the bottoms of the cookies are just golden.



That's all I have for you today, I showed up at the theater lastnight and was asked "what are you doing here" and when I said I thought we were blocking act 1 scene 3 was told no act 2 scene 3 is tonight so I scramed out of there as fast as I could, I figure I should take it while I can.

Scr-ooooooge

So I started rehersals for scrooge lastnight and if you know me well enough you'll know that my directors choice for my character is pretty funny, I'm the propritor of a knitting shop, (hee hee) possibly there will be other characters piled on top of that before we open but as always in a Lester show everyone does everything, You don't dance?? you will in this show. Don't sing??? Better start learning cause you will in this show. it's funny and really fun our Scrooge is so good. lastnight was only the first rehersal and I can already tell if the entire production falls apart Scrooge will be able to hold it together on his own, people are going to hate him so much it's going to make them love him. I hope that the rest of the run goes just as well and we have just as much fun. I know I'll be complaining at some point about something about this show so I'm going to appolgize in advance. It's going to be a long few months but after I am done with Scrooge I move on to Ragtime which is such a great show. It's compelling and amazing and I am so happy to get to be a part of it but here's the part that makes me nervous, we're going to try and pull off this huge production in 14 rehersals (I don't remember if this includes tech week or not but does it really matter?) 14 freaking rehersals!!!!!! These people are nuts!!!

OK so the makeup is a little crazy but what do you want from me it's the only picture I have of Ryan on my computer at work, as soon as I transfer my other picutres over I will post these as well. this post is in rememberance of a great man. And sure he may look silly in the picture below (but who doesn't when made up for a production of CATS) He's amazing he was amazing and he will always have a place in many peoples hearts. Sending love to all who know him, all who knew him and all who wish they had known him better.
